York

Along the walls

For this holiday we visited the historic city of York and nearby places.

On our first day we visited Boston Spa

Bridge over River Wharfe

where we enjoyed walking along the River Wharf.

The next day we walked from the delightful village of Bishopthorpe along the River Ouse to York, where we explored the city walls and the historic city

The Shambles

before returning past Terry’s old factory and York racecourse.

On our final day we walked through the lovely village of Ledsham

Approaching Ledsham

to the nature reserve of Fairburn Ings

At Fairburn Ings

where we saw all sorts of birds, butterflies and wild flowers, before another great lunch in Ledsham and a pleasant walk back.
