Windermere

Countryguide Holidays at Windermere

We stayed at the Windermere Hotel.  Despite all the recent bad weather, and some gloomy forecasts,  we managed to find some enjoyable walks – and avoid the mud and rain! In view of the ground conditions our walks were shorter than usual, but the recent extra rain helped the waterfalls to look good!

On our first day we went to Waterhead at the northern tip of Windermere and saw Stockghyll Force and Ambleside.

The next day we enjoyed sunshine and snow topped hills:

as we explored Elter Water and Loughrigg Tarn.

As it was a  little misty on our final day, we had a last minute change of route and did a short but enjoyable walk along Lake Windermere to Bowness-on Windermere.
