Levisham / Pickering – 14th to 16th February 2014
On the edge of the Hole of Horcum near Pickering, we stayed at the superb Horseshoe Inn.
Kilnsey/Grassington – 7th to 9th March 2014
Our accommodation was at the Tennants Arms at Kilnsey , a superb hotel set under Kilnsey Crag. Walks to include Grassington and the Wharfedale valley.
Settle – 21st to 23rd March 2014
We stayed at Whitefriars Country Guest house, in the centre of Settle, for some excellent walks in Ribblesdale.
Buxton – 11th to 13th April 2014
We stayed at the Portland Hotel, next to the park and Pavillion, in this beautiful Derbyshire town.
West Witton – 27th to 29th April 2014
Accommodation is at the Old Star guest house, next door to the Fox and Hounds. A beautiful area, with walks around Aysgarth, West Burton, Leyburn and Middleham castle. See here for previous walks.
Kilburn – 1st to 3rd June 2014
Accommodation was at the Foresters Inn in the centre of this beautiful village. Walks included the “White Horse” of Kilburn, Sutton Bank, Helmsley and Rievaux Abbey. See here for previous walks.
Llangollen – 17th to 19th June 2014
We stayed at the Abbey Grange hotel, at the foot of the Horseshoe Pass. Only 400 metres from the hotel are the lovely ruins of Vale Crucis Abbey, nearby are the Horseshoe Falls, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the magnificent Castell Dinas Bran.
Ironbridge – 22nd to 24th July 2014
We stayed at the Madeley Court Hotel, near Telford to explore this interesting area of Shropshire.
Belper – 10th to 12th August 2014
Another new venue – we stayed at Makeney Hall, a magnificent Victorian country mansion in South Derbyshire. Walks included parts of the Mid Shires Way and the Derwent Valley.
Conwy – 26th to 28th August 2014
Same time as last years for the yellow and purple of the gorse and heather, fantastic!
Bamburgh – 19th to 22nd September 2014
We stay at The Sunningdale Hotel in this peaceful and historic area of Northumberland. Walks include crossing the causeway to Holy Island, visiting Craster and walking near Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh castles.
Runswick Bay – 12th to 14th October 2014
We stay at the Runswick Bay Hotel in this lovely coastal village.
Hayfield – 31st October to 2nd November 2014
We stay at the Royal Hotel in Hayfield (one of Mel’s favourite villages). Walks include around Kinder Scout and Lantern Pike.
Bakewell – 14th to 16th November 2014
We explored the ancient ‘Capital of the Peak’ – famous for its pudding!
Our most popular break is at New Year (31st December 2014 to 2nd January 2015). We stayed at the Bryn Howel Hotel in the spectacular Vale of Llangollen.
