Walks in 2016

We did the following walks in 2016. The cost includes bed, breakfast and evening meals, and lunches on walks.

Windermere – 29th January to 31st January 2016
Accomodation is at the  impressive Windermere Hotel in Windermere.  Beautiful blue skies with snow capped hills made this one of our favourite venues last year.

Llanberis – 14th February to 17th February 2016
We stay for 3 nights at the beautiful Royal Victoria Hotel. Excellent walks (not too strenuous) and we’re hoping for views of a snow topped Snowdon. Lots of singles (and no supplement).

Kilnsey, near Grassington – 18th to 20th March 2016
Our accommodation is at the Tennants Arms at Kilnsey , a superb hotel (with large open fire and good food) set under Kilnsey Crag. Walks to include Grassington, Kettlewell and the Wharfedale valley.

Hadrian’s Wall – Hexham – 8th to 11th April 2016
Northumberland’s renown historic Roman Wall. Accomodation is at The George Hotel, in Chollerford, near the wall and the River Tees.  This venue will soon be fully booked.

Otley – 8th May to 10th May 2016
We stay at Chevin Lodge, near Otley, in log cabins in 44 acres of woodland.

Humber Bridge – 31st May to 2nd June 2016
Acomodation is at the Green dragon in the lovely village of Welton (3 miles from the bridge.  Walks may include parts of the Wolds Way and a walk over the bridge and the River Humber.

Llangollen – 28th to 30th June 2016
We’ll be staying at the Abbey Grange hotel, at the foot of the Horseshoe Pass.  Only 400 metres from the hotel are the lovely ruins of Vale Crucis Abbey, nearby are the Horseshoe Falls, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the magnificent Castell Dinas Bran.

Malvern – 26th to 28th July 2016
We’ll be staying at the Abbey hotel, adjoining Malvern Priory, with fine walks on the Malvern Hills.

West Witton – 9th to 11th August 2016
Accommodation is at the Old Star guest house, next door to the Fox and Hounds.  A beautiful area, walks may include Aysgarth, West Burton, Leyburn and Middleham castle.  See here for previous walks.

Same time as previous years, for the yellow and purple of the gorse and heather, fantastic!

Malham – 16th to 18th September 2016
We stay at Miresfield Farm, on the Pennine Way in the centre of Malham, for some excellent walks in Malhamdale.

Whitby – 7th to 9th October 2016
Accommodation is at the Royal Hotel, near the jaw bones, overlooking the beautiful harbour and abbey. Walks will include exploring this historic fishing town and the ruins of Whitby Abbey

Buxworth – 11th to 13th November 2016
Buxworth is situated near the Peak Forest canal basin, in the heart of Derbyshire. Accomodation is at the Navigation Inn, an inn of character set by the canal basin. We will enjoy the autumn colours around Lyme Park and Whaley Bridge.

Our most popular break is at New Year. We will be staying at the Bryn Howell hotel in the beautiful Vale of Llangollen. Early booking advised, please call if interested.
